In short
- You own what you write. We only need permission to store and sync it for you.
- Use BetterNotes for your own learning, and not to break the law or harm others.
- Paid plans renew until you cancel. Cancelling never locks you out of your notes.
Your content
You own your notebooks and everything in them. You give us permission to store, process, sync and back up your content only so we can provide BetterNotes to you, including generating margin notes when you use the margin.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details safe and tell us if you think someone else has accessed your account. You must be at least 13, or use BetterNotes through a school account.
Acceptable use
Do not use BetterNotes to break the law, infringe others’ rights, share harmful content through public links, or attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service.
Academic integrity
The margin is designed to help you learn. You are responsible for following your school’s rules about what help is allowed.
Plans and payments
- Free features are free. Paid plans are billed through the store or payment method you choose and renew until you cancel.
- If you cancel or stop paying, you keep access to open and export all your notes.
- Refunds follow the refund policy.
Changes and availability
We work hard to keep BetterNotes available, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. If we make important changes to these terms, we will tell you in advance.
